Our first time setting up the cart in 2017.

This picture makes us laugh so hard because a) we had no idea what we were doing b) it was truly the most windy April day in mankind history and c) did I mention we didn't know what we were doing?!?

ABOUT US

Hi Friends,

Kim and Molly here. Mother-daughter duo. Package deal. Best friends and Co-Business Owners. It all started during my (Molly's) freshman year of college (actually probably before that) but we got serious about the idea of opening a business during that timeframe.  I was away at school taking basic communication and business-type courses.  My mom and I talked on the phone often, like most college girls with their moms do. Aside from sharing the latest details of people I'd met and the new things I had experienced, we often talked about opening a business. I think we both had the feeling that we needed a creative outlet.

We used to spend our time at the ball-field or in the gym during my high school days, but now that we had some "free" (and I say "free" very loosely) time on our hands, we were dying to fill our schedules. We both have always loved anything involving design and crafts. Also, flowers have always been our love language so we knew we had to share our passion to put a smile on others' faces.

My new college friend, Dru helped us with licenses and all the stuff you really don't think about when opening a business. She also made our logo! I'm forever grateful for her wisdom and for helping us get started.

We knew we wanted to sell flowers by the stem in paper wrapped bouquets. We found a vintage cart that we transformed into the molly b. flower cart. We love our precious cart and I am convinced I will write a book about her one day because she has many stories to tell (but that's for another day). During that year, I would come home on the weekends to operate the cart with my mom at the Village of Providence. Our little "corner" across from Taco Mama holds such special memories in our hearts. Some days we were so busy that we didn't have time to take a sip of water. Other days were so quiet that we weren't sure we would sell one stem. Even though we sometimes would get discouraged, looking back, those quiet times gave my mom and I so much time to catch up and spend quality time together.

The flower cart eventually grew into arrangement-making for local realtors which eventually led into some of our precious frequent customers (Samantha & Jake) who happened to live in Providence at the time, asking us one day if we did weddings.  Weddings?? The idea had truly never crossed our minds.

We loved our little cart and making arrangements for our clients but it only took that sweet couple trusting us with their wedding day to open up a whole new door for molly b. flowers. We will forever be grateful to Sam and Jake for their trust and believing in us. We now operate molly b. flowers as a pop-up cart for bouquets and as an event florist.  Our style is a little different than most but we always try to be authentically "us". We do have full-time "day jobs" and we operate molly b. flowers on the side and truly look at it as a way to learn something new everyday and to spend time together.  Our two-man team isn't always roses and dandelions (LOL)-we do squabble from time to time about petty things (mostly our opinions) but we always laugh about it in the end.  We are continuously striving to learn more about flowers, the industry, our technique and our brand but we greatly appreciate our precious clients' and they will never know how they helped this mother-daughter dream take flight.

Best Blooms, Molly and Kim
